Background and Client Objectives

The Client, headquartered at New Mexico, USA. The company provides metal refinery services, producing gold and silver casting grain products. One of her manufacturing sites was at Zhaoyuan, Shandong, China. The city is well known for its abundant gold deposit and production. However, the China branch lost money from startup and deteriorated for 3 years. They sought a third party opinion to determine the future of the factory

Deliverables

OSc was invited by her USA partners to form a consultancy team. The tasks were to review & study: 1.) China branch financial situation,  2.) Appropriateness of campus location, 3 ) Local laws & practices,  4.) Human sources C&B and Staff interview,  5.) China business plan,  6.) Factory manufacturing performances; and come out a sustainability report of the factory with suggestions.

 


 

Factory Re-engineering

Background and Client Objectives

The Client is a US based company, headquartered at HK, with manufacturing activities in China. The company supplies a broad range of optical fiber cabling, connectivity solutions for data center & telecommunication networks requiring Telcordia Standards. Due to the major customer acquired by other company, the telco business going downwards.  A new General Manager was hired for moving the factory from Kunming, Yunnan Province to Shenzhen and developing of new business. After the movement, in about 8 months period, the number of workers and sales revenue increased significantly, however, so as the deficit.

Deliverables

The tasks were to review & study: 1.) Cost structure,  2.) Business strategy, 3 ) Staff contents,  4.) Quality problem & Manufacturing efficiency; and come out a salvage plan for the factory,  progress monitoring schedule & follow up actions.
